Reports suggest that in the year 2002, the casino industry has succeeded in offering more than 350,000 jobs in United States coupled with benefits amounting to $11 billion. Furthermore, an approximate 400,000 jobs are known to get support from casino industry. Sources revealed that local and state governments across the nation receive a hefty sum of more than 4 billion dollar in casino tax income that stands effective enough in infrastructure developments, mass safety, lodging, education and health care amongst other programs.

According to a 2 year study of lawful betting in the U.S, as conducted by the congressionally mandated National Gambling impact study Commission (NGISC), it has been revealed that casino gambling has far-fetching positive economic impacts. After thorough research, it has been found that casino gaming has not just contributed in creating jobs but also curtailed the level of unemployment.  To be precise the betting industry comes as an economic basis in several communities and serves a significant role in both regional and state economies.

The University of Chicago’s National Opinion Research center noticed that communities related to casinos experience a 12% to 17% fall in welfare costs, unemployment insurance and unemployment status after the advent of casino betting. In addition, NORC has also come to a conclusion that communities with casinos come with 43% high earnings in their lodging and hotel sectors in relation to those communities far from casinos.

It has been observed that whenever a country faces any economic hardship or an obstacle, gambling comes as a great rescue to boost a weak economy. Although there may be some side-effects of betting, but they are increasingly being outweighed by the benefits, the industry shares.

Well, in order to settle various viewpoints on online betting, the legislators of Democratic Party have come out with an opinion of organizing a gaming summit and presenting a final proposal to the public voting in a referendum this year. In reference to this context, Chris Christie, Governor of New Jersey, had appointed an advisory committee, to make necessary suggestions for enlivening the gambling industries including racetracks and land casinos.
Pointing this confusing and troublesome situation, Senator Raymond Lesniak, the sponsor of S490 opined that all sectors of the gambling industry are in a crippling state and are indirectly trying to gain upper hand and advantage at the expense of others. He also asserted that this way they are simply killing each other. He opined that the time has come for the legislator and the governor to initiate a policy based on increasing revenues from gaming and reviving the industry back to its past glory. As an assurance, Lesniak asserted that he would not pass his bill forward until and unless all the issues have been covered and a new proposal is generated.

The bill that was approved by the Assembly Regulatory Oversight and Gaming Company highlighted multiple questions related to gambling. The questions discussed included the legalizing of sports betting, allowing sports betting over internet in New Jersey, types of gambling option to operate at New Jersey race tracks and lots more .
